We have recently developed a stand-alone data logging case including field sensors for one of our clients who transports rigs by means of semi-submersible vessels. Using several laser distance sensors we were able, during loading, to monitor the position of the rig as well as the approach speed to the indication posts on the deck. The Li-ion battery-powered PLC system is built into a rugged flight case comprising indication operation buttons and indication lights. The stored data can be transferred directly to a common USB stick by simply plugging it into the designated port. The system is designed and built in such way that it can easily be extended with several additional sensors; in this particular case with impact sensors. Another example is a custom-built hydraulic test facility which has the ability to log relevant data such as multiple pressures and flow, allowing our customer to generate a detailed test report.
