For one of our customers, who is transporting rigs by means of semisubmersible vessels, we have developed a stand-alone datalogging case including field sensors. By means of several laser distance sensors, we were able, during loading, to monitor the position of the rig as well as the approach speed to the indication posts on the deck. The Li-ion battery-powered PLC system is built into a rugged flight case comprising indication operation buttons and indication lights. The stored data can be transferred directly to a common USB stick by simply plugging it into the designated port.
The system is designed and built in such way that it can easily be extended with several additional sensors; in this particular case with impact sensors. Another example is a custom-built hydraulic test facility which has the capability to log relevant data such as multiple pressures and flow, allowing our customer to generate a detailed test report.
