Nowadays, our customers are active in the upcoming “renewables” market; wind-energy, for instance. Within different projects, we have designed and delivered specific auxiliary tools such as, for instance, an upending tool for monopiles. These foundation piles were stored horizontally on board and tilted vertically by using the vessel’s crane and the upending tool. A second example is the stepping system for a HSD (Hydro Sound Damper) deployment frame used during pile-driving.
Draftec designed and delivered the required hydraulic system as well as a semi-automatic electrical control system integrated in a local operating panel. Since most of the work concerns the placement of offshore wind turbines beside the vessel, accessibility can be an issue. The example shown is a hydraulic hand-operated vertical-extending staircase allowing personnel access in between different pieces of equipment.
